Mexico's two goals against Brazil in Saturday's Gold Medal match served to exhibit that Mexican players too can score confidently and spectacularly.

Both goals were scored by Oribe Peralta and can be viewed in video at this location.
Recap
Although both sides gave their best efforts, Mexico's attack and offense was apparently superior as it didn't forgive the Brazilians for a defense error to score not only Mexico's first goal but also the fastest Olympic goal ever. It only took 30 seconds after the initial kick-off for Peralta to begin Brazil's agony. Brazil was scoreless all throughout regular time.
In minute 63, Mexico almost scored its second as no. 8 Romulo beat the ball to a Brazilian defender in the goal key and suddenly found himself before the goalie. Romulo tried to fake the goalie, Gabriel, who was partially able to tap the ball with his hands sending the ball up high. Romulo followed to ball and kicked it over his head but landed on the post.
After a fast counter attack in minute 68, Herrera passed the ball to Peralta who netted it. The goal, however, was immediately annulled by the side referee who ruled an offside.
Attempt after attempt, it was finally in the 75th minute that Mexico sealed the game.
Mexico was awarded a free kick from outside the key and had Romulo shooting the ball to an ideally positioned Peralta that cleanly headed the ball between Gabriel's hands and the post.
For Brazil, it was no. 12 Hulk who gave Brazil it's only goal of the match. It was too late however for Brazil to equalize.
Olympic History
Mexico's gold represents the country's first title in Olympics soccer and the country's first gold medal in London.
Brazil on the other hand failed to earn its first ever gold in the Olympics. In 2008 it lost to Argentina in the gold medal match as well.
The soccer team will return to Mexico after the Olympics closing ceremony tomorrow, scheduled for 9:00 p.m. London Time / 4:00 p.m. EDT.
