The gold medal match is set between Team USA and France in women's basketball today at 4 p.m. EDT.

The North Greenwich Arena will host both undefeated team and the American women are strongly favored to easily win, according to bookies.

France's advantage is with point guard Celina Dumerc who's the only athlete in the Olympic final to score the most points, with 106. No American is in the top 10 scoring board. As a group however, Team USA dominated with a total of 639 points compared to second place France with 508 points.

The gold medal final will feature the Americans looking for their 41st straight Olympic victory and fifth consecutive medal. France already makes history as they're guaranteed at least a silver medal, as they never won an Olympic medal in the sport.

The US women started their gold medal streak back in the 1996 Atlanta Summer Olympics, but their 40 game winning streak dates back to the 1992 Barcelona Summer Olympics when they defeated Cuba for the bronze medal. It is their only bronze medal in US women's basketball history.

"This is USA Basketball's streak," said US forward Candace Parker. "We're just trying not to be the people that end it. I want a second gold medal. There are people that want a third. And some are looking for their first. So all of us are fighting for something in our own way."

"[France is] a team nobody really talked about heading into the tournament, but personally I knew that was going to be a team we might have to face," said US point guard Sue Bird. "I've played with all their girls and know how talented they are."

France's coach is aware of the David vs. Goliath match, telling The Guardian, "The United States built the game. They cannot be beaten, they're invincible."
