“Blurred Lines” is a fame factory. Not only did it propel Robin Thicke’s career to new, unfathomable levels, but it’s also provided the video’s head model Emily Ratajkowski with a plethora of new opportunities. Her face is now a staple in fashion, her followers on social media outlets such as Twitter and Instagram have skyrocketed, and now she’s landed her first role in a feature film alongside the one and only Ben Affleck.
Director David Fincher recently cast Ratajkowski as Affleck’s college-aged mistress in the upcoming film “Gone Girl,” reports The Wrap. The movie is based of Gillian Flynn’s best selling mystery novel and stars Affleck as Nick Dunne, who is implicated in the disappearance of his wife. It doesn’t help his case that Nick had an affair with Andie (Ratajkowski), who later teams with Amy’s parents to finger the blame on him.
Although Ratajkowski climbed up the social ranks as a model, this won’t be her first time acting, although it’s safe to say that “Gone Girl” is by far the biggest role thus far in her brief acting career. She’s previously appeared on Fox’s “New Girl” and Nickelodeon’s “iCarly.”
Ratajkowski’s career exploded after she starred as the brunette bombshell prancing nude around Thicke in his “Blurred Lines” music video. Once the unrated video made its way into public hands, there was no stopping it, and the more people watched the video, the more they listened to the song. The video made the song popular, and once it achieved worldwide recognition, people tapped into its simplistic, funky chopped beat, catchy falsettos, and overall feel good groove.
The song and video were everywhere, and in no time at all, Ratajkowski became one of the most adorned and obsessive over models. She became the face of the video, stealing the show away from Thicke and his fellow musicians. And look at her now. All grown up, hanging on movie sets with Ben Affleck. Well done.
