Apple's seventh version of the iPhone will be released on Sept. 20, and the smartphone has definitely come a long way since 2007.
Apple first introduced the iPhone on Jan. 9, 2007, and the device was given a release date of June 29 that same year. Six years later, Apple has enhanced the iPhone's features and capabilities.

The first iPhone's wireless connectivity include Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g, headset-only Bluetooth support and USB connection. The iPhone 5s has the Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Wi-Fi hotspot, Bluetooth version 4.0 and USB.
The iPhone 1 did not have a front-facing camera, but the iPhone 5s has a 1.2-megapixel camera on the front with 720p at 30 frames per second for video recording. The rear-facing camera for the iPhone 5s stands at 8 megapixels with 3,264x2,448 pixels, an improvement from the 2 megapixels and 1,600x1,200 pixels on the iPhone 1. The original iPhone could not record video.
The mobile operating system on the iPhone 1 saw the first iOS platform. The iPhone 1 was eligible to upgrade to the then-latest iOS 3.1.3. With the iPhone 5s, Apple introduced iOS 7.
According to GSMArena, the CPU for the original iPhone was the 412 MHz ARM 11, which is a change from the current iPhone era as Apple develops its own AX chips. The iPhone 5s will see the introduction of the A7 chip.
When it comes to color options, the iPhone 5s is available in black, white (Space Gray) and gold, while the original smartphone was only featured in black.
The iPhone 5s will go on sale starting Sept. 20 across Australia, Canada, China, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, Puerto Rico, Singapore, United Kingdom and United States.
In the U.S., the 16GB iPhone 5s will be offered for $199 when signing a two-year contract with carriers AT&T, Sprint and Verizon Wireless. The 32GB model costs $299, while the 64GB is an additional $100.
