The cops of "Hawaii Five-0" will return for a fourth season with just as much personal drama as crime-fighting thrills. On the season opener, Danny (Scott Caan) will choose a very bad time to tell Steve about his issues with Gabby (Autumn Reeser) and the "L-word," according to TVLine.
The premiere will also reveal an unexpected outcome to a hostage crisis. Viewers will get to see Chi McBride in an unconventional get-up, and Steve (Alex O'Loughlin) will strike up a theory about his mom's ties to Wo Fat (Mark Dacascos).
CBS released the official synopsis for the season premiere: "After McGarrett and Wo Fat narrowly escape from maximum security, gunmen storm Five-0 headquarters, compromising Kono and Adam's secret location in Hong Kong and forcing McGarrett to break the law and turn on his own in order to find a kidnapped Catherine."
The fourth season of the tropical drama will also feature some problems for Steve and his girlfriend, Catherine (Michelle Borth).
Showrunner Peter M. Lenkov told TVLine that Catherine will be "going through a life change" when she leaves the Navy to work for her ex's private security company. Although Steve gives Catherine his blessing to make the change, he may regret his nonchalant attitude about the situation.
"McGarrett, not being the jealous type, is going to insist that she take the job - and he's going to end up regretting that," Lenkov said. "You'll see McGarrett a little vulnerable, which is fun."
Many guest stars will also be appearing on the forthcoming season. Access Hollywood reported that Daryl Hannah will be appearing in an upcoming episode of the series to play a local realtor with a shady side. Hannah's character will be a 'cougar,' and will enter into a relationship with a man many years her junior.
The new season will also resurrect a character from the original series, which ran from 1968 through 1980. According to TV Fanatic, Chi McBride will play old-school character Captain Lou Grover.
Melanie Griffith will also play Danny "Danno" Williams' (Scott Caan) mother. Griffith was personally approached by Caan to assume the role.
Additionally, Nick Jonas, Carol Burnett, Tim Daly, Jorge Garcia, Terry O'Quinn, Rebecca De Mornay, Taryn Manning, Rumer Willis and Henry Ian Cusick will round out the impressive list of guest stars.
The fourth season of "Hawaii Five-0" premieres on CBS on Friday, September 27.
