There’s no such thing as too much Sherlock Holmes. The world renowned fictional detective has spawned a legendary book series, several feature films, various television programs and more. He’s untouchable. Not only will he continue to solve any mystery, he will coddle his fame and adoration for eternity. He’s the classic model for any private eye character. He’s the guy.
As the ‘guy’ prepares for his second season of the hit television series “Elementary,” mystery junkies continue to dig for details. Although CBS has been hesitant to share much on the upcoming season, a new promo does showcase a splendid display of Holmes and sidekick Joan Watson doing what they do best. Check it out below.
As for the little we do know about the Season 2, expect Sherlock’s brother Mycroft to play a pivotal role in the early episodes. As for Natalie Dormer, don’t expect her to make an appearance anytime soon due to the story arc and a busy schedule.
But perhaps most exciting, Steve Kazee, from the “Once” musical, will join the cast as a potential love interest for Joan, as they meet during her first attempt at online dating. However, don’t expect the relationship to blossom right away. If Holmes has any say, it will be over in the click of a mouse. Typical curmudgeon Holmes.
And just as things get overly complicated for Joan, there’s more. According to executive producer Rob Doherty, “someone from [Joan’s] past” would be making an appearance early on in the season. “We’ve alluded to a mistake she made when she was a surgeon that cost a patient his life,” Doherty told TVLine. “We’re going to meet someone, like a very real connection to that patient, and explore Joan’s feelings of guilt. At what point do you tap your guilt and give yourself permission to live?” We’ll just have to wait and find out.
“Elementary” returns to CBS September 26 with "Step Nine."
