The promo for "Glee's" fifth season premiere has officially been released, and it is an exuberant tribute to the Fab Four.
The clip shows a glimpse of the two-part season premiere, which will revolve around a tribute to The Beatles. The "Glee" cast members are shown singing different Beatles songs, with the "Glee" version of "All You Need Is Love" playing in the background.
TVLine reported the two-parter's official synopsis: "The members of New Directions are back in action and take on their biggest assignment yet: the Beatles! As Will enlists the kids to pay homage to the classic song catalog from the Fab Four, Blaine and Kurt attempt to answer questions about their future together. Meanwhile, Rachel's New York ambitions take an unexpected turn in the all-new 'Love, Love, Love' season premiere episode of Glee."
The fifth season will also include a heartfelt tribute to the late Cory Monteith and his character, Finn Hudson. The emotional episode will be titled "The Quarterback," referencing Finn's starring position on the McKinley High Football team.
Some recurring characters who have been absent from the show for awhile will return to take part in the tribute. Dot Marie-Jones, who plays Coach Beiste, will be returning for the episode, as well as Romy Rosemont, who plays Carole Hudson-Hummel, Finn's mother.
It has been rumored that the return of old characters could mean that the episode will feature a funeral scene where people from Finn's past will return to pay their respects. The actors most likely want to return to say a tearful goodbye to Monteith, who died an untimely death at the young age of 31 due to a drug and alcohol overdose.
It was been an extremely emotional time for the "Glee" cast, who are forced to continue on with the series without him. Monteith's on-screen and real-life girlfriend, Lea Michele, has handled the tragic death with remarkable strength, wholeheartedly delving back into work on the set of Glee. Michele was seen wearing a "Finn" necklace on set for the tribute episode, similar to the "Cory" necklace that she's often seen wearing as a testament to her late boyfriend.
Michele will sing a farewell song at the end of the tribute episode. Michele will only appear at the end of the episode.
Demi Lovato, Pheobe Strole and Adam Lambert will also appear on the upcoming season.
"Glee" premieres on Thursday, Sept. 26 on Fox.
