Disney Infinity has been a big success for Disney Interactive, as the game has been a big hit for fans of both the action figures and video game, and critics had positive things to say about the game as well. Users have been busy creating their own worlds within the game, and now Disney has added new free DLC for the game, including worlds built on a franchise few thought would make it into the family friendly game, Bioshock.
Developer Avalanche Software made the levels themselves according to executive producer John Vignocchi on his Twitter account, as there was some confusion as to the DLC being official content from the studio or if it was fan made content. According to Polygon players can download the Disney Infinity version of the setting of Bioshock Infinite, the flying city of Columbia. Obviously, the version of the city found on Disney Infinity (renamed Toy Columbia) will not feature the bloodshed and mature themes found in the original game, and will feature a cameo that Disney fans will appreciate. In addition to the giant statues and sky-lines of Columbia users can check out the flying house found in the Pixar movie Up.
In addition to this crossover of franchises, four other levels are available for use in the Toy Box mode. One level, called Trench Run, has players use a vehicle found in the movie Tron. Players race around the level in a Tron recognizer through a trench-like environment, hence the name. Jungle Cruise is based on a theme park ride of the same name where players traverse the Nile River. The fourth new level is called Sky Gauntlet, which offers players the chance to test their platform skills. Finally, the Blue Breakout is a maze levels for players to explore.
These five levels are offered to players of Disney Infinity completely free on whatever platform they choose to play on. The game is available now on the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and Wii U. The game is similar to the popular Skylanders series and the upcoming Pokémon Rumble U in which players buy action figures that can be imported in the game. This allows new characters to be put into the game, along with unlocking new content within the game.
