“Grey’s Anatomy” continues, year after year, to reign supreme over all medical dramas. Others such as “House” and “ER” have made impressive runs, but they cannot compare to the longevity and gripping drama that keeps its fans engaged and desperate for more. Now as the show approaches its 10th season, they keep on digging and yearning for more, and as they search, more clues shed light on what’s to come in the final weeks leading up to its return.

At the onset of Season 10, Callie will find comfort in unexpected places as she turns to colleagues Meredith and Cristina. “They have more things in common that they used to, specifically Meredith and Callie, now they’re both mothers, so on that level, Meredith feels for Callie and what’s she’s going through,” said Sara Ramirez, who plays Dr. Callie Torres on the show. “There is a moment where Callie confides in Meredith early on. Cristina and Meredith are two people that Callie is close to during this, and interestingly enough, feels betrayed by one of them at one point.”

This sort of trust and betrayal is commonplace in “Grey’s Anatomy,” and after nine successful seasons, fans continue to crave more. They’re doing something right. By the same token, 10 seasons and more than 200 episodes is a bit much. No matter how successful it may be, the show’s uncertain future sticks in the back of our minds.

The show has cycled through countless big name actors and has said goodbye to several that have threatened its longevity. For example, fans feared the its looming termination when original cast members Isaiah Washington, T. R. Knight and Katherine Heigl all left, but the show persisted. Last year it ranked 10th overall in the adults ages 18-49 demographic, averaging a 4.1 rating and maintained its spot as ABC’s top drama. This year, however, things may change when it suffers its greatest loss yet. Sandra Oh. Despite the tragic departure, other cast members remain optimistic that the show will carry on with the remaining original cast members, but as of yet, nothing is confirmed.

“Grey’s Anatomy” will return for its 10th season September 26 on ABC.
