Bryan Cranston will not play Lex Luthor in the upcoming "Batman vs Superman."

The actor told the Boston Globe that he was never contacted about the role and that he never heard about the project. He stated, "Six [movies]? This is all news to me. I think that maybe my name is bandied about because I'm known to be bald. 'What bald guy can we get?'"

The latest report contradicts the statements Cranston said a few weeks ago. He recently told Metro that he would gladly play the role. He stated, "Give me a call. I like Lex Luthor. I think he's misunderstood. He's a loveable, sweet man."

The rumors of Cranston portraying Lex Luthor began after the Latino Review tweeted a number of rumors regarding Cranston. Blogger El Mayimbe wrote, "FANBOY BLIND ITEM: Which superhot actor finishing final season of hit TV show who also was in 2 films for WB is up for juicy badguy part? :) ... In fact, this actor is in this studio's tentpole which comes out next summer. :)." The last post stated, "FINAL CLUE FOR Y'ALL FANBOY KNUCKLEHEADS WHO CAN'T TAKE A HINT: This actor played a bad guy (embarrassed that he did) on the POWER RANGERS."

The film is currently in the casting process and it is unclear whether it will include Luthor. "Batman vs. Superman" will be helmed by Zack Snyder with Deborah Snyder and Charles Roven producing. Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Laurence Fishburne and Diane Lane will reprise their roles from "Man of Steel." Warner Bros. will release the movie in July of 2015.
