Microsoft has reportedly made the price cuts on the Surface with Windows 8 Pro tablet permanent due to struggling sales.
As Latinos Post noted, Microsoft had originally offered a $100 discount sale earlier this month for the Surface with Windows 8 Pro, but it appears the price reduction will remain after August.

According to Neowin, Microsoft has announced that the $100 discount will be permanent.
"The customer response to recent Surface pricing and keyboard-cover promotions has been exciting to see, and we are proud to begin rollout of Surface Pro, Touch Cover and Surface RT bundles at even more affordable prices starting 29 August. People who buy Surface love Surface, and we're eager for more people to get their hands on this incredible device," wrote Microsoft, via Neowin.
The Touch Covers for the Surface tablets will also get a price reduction of $40. Therefore, the Touch Covers will now start at $79 while the Limited Edition Touch Covers will be $89.
The price reduction comes a little over a month after Microsoft also reduced the price of the Surface with Windows RT.
As Latinos Post reported in July, the Microsoft Store discounted the Surface with Windows RT's price for both 32GB and 64GB models with and without the Touch Cover. The tablet-only 32GB Surface with Windows RT at the Microsoft Store is $349, down from the original $449 price, while the 64GB variant will cost the consumer $449, instead of $599.
Microsoft also revealed it was taking a $900 million charge due to "related to Surface RT inventory adjustments." Columnists have stated the "inventory adjustments" were in fact just unsold tablets of the Surface with Windows RT.
Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer has issued a statement in regards to the sales of the Surface with Windows RT tablet.
"We built a few more devices than we could sell," said Ballmer, via The Verge.
According to The Huffington Post, the $900 million loss equates to approximately 6 million units.
