Mexican singer Alejandro Fernández addressed long-standing gay rumors during a press conference in Mexico to release his new studio album "Confidencias" (Secrets) on Tuesday (August 27), the Huffington Post reported.

The 42-year-old star opened up about his sexuality and said he liked women. "I am very clear on my sexuality. I like women and a lot," said Fernández during the presentation at the newly renovated José Luis Cuevas Museum, in front of a group of fans and media outlets.

"Being conceited doesn't necessarily make you less of a macho. I am very sure of my sexuality, I like women, and if you do not like something, why not go relax and get a massage."

"El Potrillo" also denied rumors of alleged plastic surgeries, and explained that since he started working on "Confidencias" he has been partying less and exercising more. "Vanity doesn't take away from masculinity", he said.

"I've heard many rumors, but they really make me laugh," said Fernández, " There's nothing under the table or that cannot be discovered. The truth is that since we started making this record, I've devoted a 100 percent to it. I started a diet, I began to work out. That implied partying less. I also spent more time with my children and dyed my hair [laughs]," said the artist.

Fernández told reporters that having a healthy lifestyle and no surgery is what has made him look radiant. "I think the excitement of this new project is what has made me feel so radiant," he said.

The album's first single, "Hoy tengo ganas de ti", a duet with Christina Aguilera, has been playing for several weeks on the radio in Mexico and the U.S., and other countries in Latin America to great success. According to Universal Music Latino, the song dominated the iTunes listings, reaching the No. 1 position in Spain and Latin America in its first week of release.

"Confidencias" also features duets with Rod Stewart and with Fernández's father, Vicente Fernández. "We threw a lot of names of possible artists to sing with around, because we knew that not all of them would be available, but at the end we have three spectacular collaborations," said the singer.

Fernández has won two Grammy awards and two Billboard awards and has sold over 20 million records. He will perform in Las Vegas on September 15 to celebrate the Mexican Independence Day at the MGM Grand Garden Arena.
