Lionel Messi is ready to bring Barcelona back to Champions League supremacy, but the four-time Ballon d'Or winner knows that won't be easy.
Barcelona was drawn into one of the toughest groups of the competition. Group G features Barcelona alongside AC Milan, Celtic, and Ajax Amsterdam. This will be the third straight year that Barcelona takes on the Italian contingent and the second straight that it faces Celtic.
"This season's group will not be easy, but we are looking forward to some good games," he said about the draw, according to ESPN. "You don't get any easy groups, but this is a nice one. We played Milan and Celtic last season, and it is our first time against Ajax. It will be a difficult group."
Celtic and AC Milan both managed wins over Barcelona a year ago; Barcelona also won games against each of those two opponents. Of course Messi has his sights set on a special opponent: Bayern Munich. The defending champions took down Barcelona in embarrassing fashion during the semifinals. During the first leg, Messi and company were rattled 4-0. With the Argentinean superstar on the bench for round two, the team suffered a 3-0 loss at home.
"Bayern were superb last season and better than Barcelona," Messi said. "But hopefully this season we can do better. When you play for a club like Barcelona, the only option is to try and win it all."
