Mekhi Phifer has joined the season three cast of Showtime comedy "House of Lies."

TVGuide reports that the "ER" actor will play Dre, a successful mogul who recruits callous management consultant Marty (Don Cheadle) to help build up his business and boost sales. Phifer has appeared in "Lie to Me" and "Torchwood," and is also featured in the new film "Divergent," a film adaptation of the young adult novel taking place in a dystopian future.

The finale of "House of Lies'" second season ended with Doug (Josh Lawson) getting married in Las Vegas, with everyone celebrating the happy occasion. Doug got married in a hot second because Sarah (Jenny Slate) found a ring in her dessert-- but Doug didn't put it there. After Sarah put on the ring, excitedly screaming and jumping around the restaurant, Doug was too embarrassed to tell her that he wasn't the one who hid the ring. Doug therefore decides to marry Sarah the next day. Little does Doug know that Sarah planted the ring in the dessert herself in order to force Doug into marriage.

Meanwhile, Marty focuses on his bid to start his own consulting business. Although he encounters sabotage and backstabbing, he ends up closing the deal and is shown standing in his brand new office. This infuriates Clyde (Ben Schwartz), who thinks Marty took over his deal.

Jeannie (Kristen Bell) is facing purely personal issues. Her and Marty spent a drunken night together, and her feelings for him have blossomed into love. However, Marty is not readily returning Jeannie's feelings.

The episode ends with Marty covered in Harvard-shaped red velvet wedding cake in a wedding reception fiasco.

The end of the second season set up a fresh new storyline for next season. At what cost did Marty enter into his new venture? Will he succeed? Will Jeannie's feelings be reciprocated?

Find out when "House of Lies" returns on Sunday, January 12 on Showtime.
