Spoiler Alert: Article contains results of gymnastics' uneven bars.

---

The Flying Squirrel is looking to have a third gold medal placed around her neck as she sets to conquer the uneven bars today. Gabby Douglas has so far won gold medals at the Individual All-Around Final and the Women's Team Final, but for the Uneven Bars Final, the results were different than expected.

The 16-year-old from Newport News landed in eighth place - last. Russia's Aliya Mustafina won the gold with a score of 16.133. China's Kexin He and Great Britain's Elizabeth Tweddle landed in second and third, respectively.

The win for Russian's Mustafina can be considered as a Russian fairytale as she arrives to the London Olympics after suffering an ACL injury at the European championships in 2011. Mustafina will leave the London winning gold, silver in the team competition, and a bronze in the all-around.

"I made a little mistake and I paid for it," said Douglas to The Associated Press. "I think toward the end of the Olympics you get mentally and physically tired, just like drained. I try to fight through as much as I can."

Douglas' opportunity for another gold isn't over as she is set to compete on the gymnastics beam on Tues., Aug. 7 at 9:46 a.m. EDT, with fellow American Alexandra Raisman. The beam event will be the Flying Squirrel's last performance at the London Olympics.

According to her mother, Natalie Hawkins, post-2012 Olympic plans include the family moving to West Des Moines for Douglas to further train ahead of the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Summer Olympics.

Douglas' performance on the uneven bard will be broadcasted tonight during NBC's primetime coverage.
