Those of you who own the well-received Samsung Galaxy S3 won't have to wait too long until your sleek new device is updated to the newest version of Android, Jelly Bean. According to a report from website SamMobile, a Jelly Bean update for the Galaxy S3 should be coming in the third quarter of 2012, with other Samsung devices to receive the update by the end of the year.

SamMobile attributes the information to inside sources that have previously provided accurate information regarding the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich updates.

"The test firmwares for the Galaxy S III are passed and they are working on a public version of the first Jelly Bean updates for the Galaxy S III. The wait is on the public version and the agreement of Google," says SamMobile.

Other Samsung handsets set to receive a Jelly Bean update are the Galaxy S2, the Galaxy Note, and the soon-to-be-released Galaxy Note 2.

Here's the estimated release schedule from SamMobile. Keep in mind that they do warn that these are not official dates endorsed by Samsung, but probable dates based on current information.

The report also states that there is no confirmation on any Jelly Bean updates for Samsung tablets.

Android 4.1 Jelly Bean is Google's latest version of their popular Android operating system for smartphones and tablets. It offers smoother, more visually-pleasing performance under the hood, and comes with Google's voice-assistant, Google Now, and the ability to take advantage of NFC and wirelessly transfer data with a bump.
