Ancelotti has made it clear that Diego Lopez is his No. 1 player in the Real Madrid net.
The Italian coach told reporters that he was happy with Lopez's performance and would keep going with him.
"Diego Lopez played the first game and now he has played the second game," Ancelotti said, according to ESPN. "He is playing well at the moment. There is nothing more. The pressure is fuel to me (regarding the focus on the decision)."
Lopez allowed one goal in Madrid's opening 2-1 win over Real Betis, but pitched a clean sheet on Monday against Granada.
Meanwhile, Iker Casillas, the man who has been captain of Madrid for years, has been relegated to the bench and his future with the club has become clouded.
Fans booed both goaltenders last Thursday during a friendly match; the reaction forced Ancelotti to call on the fans to unite and support both netminders.
"The club is very lucky to have two fantastic keepers and I have to make the decisions," Ancelotti said, according to Real's official website prior to the Granada game. "It is normal for me to make this kind of decision and gauge the reaction. I am not going to say who the keeper will be tomorrow. There has been a lot of talk going around and I would prefer to talk to both players first. Then I will make a decision, but it will not be definitive."
Rumors about an impending transfer have begun to circulate with Arsenal, Paris Saint-Germain and Barcelona teams purportedly interested in acquiring Casillas.
