"Star Wars Episode VII" will start production next January.
According to the Latino review the film will commence production on Jan. 21, 2014. That would allow pre-production five more months. With no legitimate casting news to speak of, the short time period is a bit disconcerting. Further, Disney's anticlimactic announcement at the D23 convention - when execs were expected to reveal cast members, but merely reiterated old news about the film - was less than promising. The CEO of Disney said, "We're just as excited as you are about 'Star Wars: Episode VII.' In fact, we're speechless. At least, we're going to be somewhat speechless at this expo because we aren't ready to share too many details just yet."
At the moment the only information fans have received comes from the technical departments. Recently, it was revealed that Dan Mindel, who has worked for J.J Abrams as cinematographer on "Star Trek," will serve as Director of Photography and will shoot "Episode VII" on film. John Williams ("Munich," "Lincoln") will return as composer for the series, while Michael Kaplan ("Star Trek") will design the costumes. J.J Abrams ("Star Trek," "Super 8") will direct the film, while Kathleen Kennedy ("Lincoln") will produce. Academy Award winner Michael Arndt ("Little Miss Sunshine," "Toy Story 3") will write the film.
Currently, Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, Billy Dee Williams and Anthony Daniels are rumored to reprise their roles from the original trilogy.
Disney is scheduled to release the film in December 2015 and production is slated to occur in the United Kingdom.
