Steaua Bucharest takes on Legia Warsaw in the second leg of the Champions League playoff 2013-14 on Tuesday.
The two sides battled to a 1-1 draw in the opening game at Bucharest. Steaua Bucharest's Federico Piovaccari opened the scoring in that game with a 34th minute marker. However, his team was unable to seize home field advantage as the opposition managed a goal in the 53rd minute courtesy of Jakub Kosecki.
The away marker gives Warsaw a distinct advantage as the club can afford to sit back and sustain pressure throughout the game. A 0-0 draw would be enough to put Warsaw through to the Champions League group stage.
Warsaw has not qualified for the Champions League since 1996 but has made it all the way to knockout rounds on three occasions. The team was a semifinalist in 1970 and finished among the final eight in 1971 and 1996.
Bucharest has had a more successful run in the tournament. The team won the trophy in 1985-86 and finished as a runner-up in 1988-89.
Prediction: The pressure is on Steaua Bucharest as the Romanian side has already conceded an away goal. Look for the Romanian team to apply pressure on its rivals early in the game in hopes of scoring the away marker. If the team succeeds then it will likely turn into a rather slow paced game. Ultimately, however, the teams will likely finish up with a 0-0 draw.
