Guillermo Romo, a representative for the Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI) in Mexico, became the focus of the media when news leaked that he uses a peculiar beauty product to protect his skin.

According to Univisión, Romo shared some of the cosmetics he uses before sessions in the Chamber of Representatives, including one made from shark sperm. In a video prior to one of his legislative activities, Romo showed his personal beauty kit and said that makeup is important because he "can be cute inside and out."

"We have makeup, for our hair, for mouth care, for eye circles, our eye drops, our creams...In that other case we have shoes; right, everything for the hair. We have face and body moisturizing cream made from shark sperm," the representative said in the video made while he prepared for his day.

Romo's meticulous process, prior to his legislative labor, provoked different opinions among Chamber members. According to Unión de Guanajuato, his bench partner, Erika Arroyo, pointed out that the attention that Romo is trying to achieve might overshadow the efforts of the PRI in Congress.

On the other hand, Adrián Camacho Trejo Lune, president of Congress, explained that nobody else but Romo will be positively or negatively affected by his actions. "I respect each and every single representative, everyone has their own style and their way of doing things (...) this doesn't represent any party strategy, he does what he does as a personal matter and the consequences he'll have in favor or against him will be with his electorate, he will have to assume the consequences, good or bad."

After the video arrived on social networks, users immediately launched a series of mocking commentaries regarding the politician's use of shark sperm on his face; however, the representative didn't reply.
