Although comedian Katt Williams is best known for his stand-up comedy sketches and laugh-out-loud movie characters, it's his heart that is garnering him buzz today.

After performing in Boston on Sunday, a member of Williams' security team noticed a woman crying in the audience. He then took her backstage to meet the pint-sized comic and that's when the funny man learned that she was in desperate need of a kidney transplant. Williams was so moved by her story that he excused himself from the room, and later returned with a folded up sheet of paper that included a gift of $1000 for the wheelchair-bound woman to use for her surgery, reports TMZ.

On the piece paper, Williams also left a note that read, "God never leaves."

The woman later explained that was crying "tears of joy" because it was the first time she had laughed since being told by doctors that she needed a new kidney. She called the comedian's good deed an "awesome surprise." At first, she thought Katt's package contained marijuana.

Late last year the comedian made headlines for a series of bizarre antics including slapping a Target employee and speeding away on a motorized tricycle.

According to WFMY news, Williams was ordered to stay away from the Target in Woodland, Calif. after his attorney entered a no contest plea to misdemeanor battery for an attack on a store employee in November. Store surveillance video footage showed Williams and the clerk arguing and then Williams hitting the man in the face, according to Woodland police.

In addition, the 39-year-old was told to not have contact with the employee, prohibited from firearms for 10 years, must serve one year informal probation and pay a $200 fine.
