Despite wishy-washy reviews, the Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 8.0 keeps plodding through its global roll out, this time launching in Samsung's backyard in South Korea.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 8.0 has launched in Europe and the United States so far, and South Korea is next on the list for the 8-inch mid-range tablet, according to SamsungTomorrow. The Galaxy Tab 3 8.0, which is just one inch larger than its immediate predecessor, the Galaxy Tab 3 7.0, features a slightly better screen, along with some improved processor and storage options.

The Galaxy Tab 3 8.0 specs include a dual core Samsung Exynos 4412 processor, clocked at 1.5GHz, assisted by 1.5GB of RAM - which is actually more RAM than the Galaxy Tab 3 7.0 or the Galaxy Tab 3 10.1-inch variants. The Galaxy Tab 3 8.0 has a 16GB internal storage option with a microSD card slot that allows for further storage expansion up to 64GB. It has a 1280 x 800p HD resolution - the best in the Galaxy Tab 3 lineup considering screen size, but only a 5-megapixel main camera. But who wants to take a picture with an 8-inch tablet anyway?

A dead-ringer for a larger Samsung Galaxy S4, the Galaxy Tab 3 8.0 weighs in at only 314 grams, even with a 4,450 mAh battery. It features Android's Jelly Bean 4.2.2 operating system out of the box, along with various Samsung UI customizations, including multi-window, which actually has a use in an 8-inch tablet.

Samsung has created a multitude of devices with different options in an attempt to reach every customer niche possible. "Samsung's industry-leading smartphones, Note devices and tablets address consumers' diverse demands and personal preferences," said Nanda Ramachandran, vice president of emerging business Samsung Telecommunications America, when the Galaxy Tab 3 lineup was unveiled in June. "The Galaxy Tab 3 portfolio offers consumers more options for tablets that serve as their ultimate smartphone companion, the center of home and on-the-go use, and mobile devices packed with content and services."

But now that the Google Nexus 7 2 has been released, Samsung's "multitude" of tablets may or may not stack up to much in comparison.
