The cast of "Blue Bloods" will be welcoming a Broadway legend to their ranks.

According to Entertainment Weekly, "Frasier" star and Broadway veteran Bebe Neuwirth will be joining the cast of the CBS cop series for a three-episode arc. She is scheduled to appear on the procedural drama in October.

Neuwirth is slated to play Kelly Peterson, the new Inspector General of Frank's (Tom Selleck) department who is beautiful, fashionable and endearing. Although Kelly and Frank will butt heads, it will be clear that they weren't always at odds. It will be revealed that the characters met years ago, and back then, "sparks definitely flew." This sets up a potential love/hate relationship that is sure to keep viewers engaged.

Neuwirth has most recently appeared on another CBS hit, "The Good Wife."

Neuwirth will be guest starring alongside Marisa Ramirez as well as Selleck, who was upped to a series regular for the upcoming season. The "Body of Proof" and "General Hospital" actress joined the show at the end of the third season as recurring character Detective Maria Baez, Danny's (Donnie Wahlberg) latest partner. Ramirez is also known for her roles in "Spartacus: God of the Arena" and short-lived Fox shows "Mental" and "Miracles."

TVLine reports that Ramirez stepped in as a replacement for Jennifer Esposito, who exited the show last October due to controversy over her inability to act on the show while managing Celiac Disease. Megan Boone of "Law and Order: LA" and newcomer Megan Ketch also temporarily joined the show last season to fill Jennifer's place.

In addition to Neuwirth, Marc Blucas of "Necessary Roughness" will guest star as a movie star who goes on a ride along with Danny to do research for an upcoming role. While on the ride along, one of Blucas' character's secrets is exposed, which prompts him to make a deal with Danny to help him track down a suspected criminal.

"Blue Bloods" will premiere its fourth season on September 27 on CBS.
