The AdDuplex figures, obtained by WMPowerUser, saw the Lumia 520's Windows Phone 8 market share increase 13.7 percent, in comparison to July's numbers.

While the Lumia 520 saw gains, the Lumia 920 also saw a healthy increase by 5.2 percent. The August numbers saw the Lumia 920 finish with 17 percent, up from July's 11.8 percent.

The Lumia 620 maintained its third place position. With an increase of 4.4 percent, the Lumia 620 garnered 14 percent of the worldwide Windows Phone 8 market share.

The increases continued for Nokia as the Lumia 820 topped the Lumia 800 for fourth place. The Lumia 820 gained 2.9 percent for a fourth place finish with 10 percent. In a surprise result, the Lumia 800 failed to chart AdDuplex's August numbers.

Rounding up the top five is another Nokia Lumia device.

The Lumia 720, which made its debut along with the Lumia 520 in February during the 2013 Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, placed fifth. The Lumia 720 jumped from July's eighth place to fifth as it gained 3.4 percent. Overall, the Lumia 720 garnered 8 percent of the AdDuplex figures.

Three non-Nokia Lumia devices cracked the top 10 of AdDuplex's figures. The HTC 8X, HTC 8S, and the Samsung ATIV S ranked sixth, eighth, and tenth place, respectively.

AdDuplex compiled their data by surveying devices connected to brand's mobile ad network on Aug. 14.
