Samsung's Galaxy Note 3 will probably be unveiled on Sept. 4, but so will a companion device: Galaxy Gear.
Samsung has been rumored to unveil the newest version of its Galaxy Note line, the Samsung Galaxy Note 3, at the Samsung "Unpacked 2013: Episode Two" event, which is taking place in Berlin, Germany on Sept. 4. But recently, another device has been rumored to be announced at the same time, and now Samsung watchers SamMobile have claimed to confirm this: The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 will be unveiled with a smartwatch, called Galaxy Gear.
Previously, SamMobile has confirmed through its insider sources certain rumors, and though the website didn't specifically mention a source for this confirmation, it would make sense. As I previously wrote when concept images were created from the leaked patent drawings for the Galaxy Gear, Samsung is probably intending the wearable smartwatch to be a companion for the Galaxy Note 3.
When Sony previously unveiled its 6.4-inch phablet version of its flagship, the Xperia Z Ultra, the company also showed off two small devices that could be tethered to the Ultra, making phone calls and other simple operations less cumbersome and perhaps embarrassing. One of those accessories was the Sony Smartwatch 2.
Now that specs for the Galaxy Note 3 have been semi-confirmed for an almost 6 inch display, it would only make sense that Samsung would want to give its customers an option for operating many aspects of the Note 3 without having to take the phablet out of a bag or purse. SamMobile, in its confirmation of the Galaxy Gear rumor today, said that the smartwatch will indeed act as a companion accessory for Galaxy phones.
One thing to look forward to that Sony did not do with its smartwatch is the possibility that the Galaxy Gear will have a flexible display. Keep with Latinos Post Tech for more updates on the Galaxy Gear and the Galaxy Note 3, as we quickly approach the Sept. 4 reveal.
