Actress and entrepeneur Eva Longoria and reggaeton singer Daddy Yankee will be honored at the 2013 edition of the "Premios Tu Mundo" (Your World Awards), Telemundo announced today. Daddy Yankee will receive the "Poder Musical" award, while Longoria will be bestowed with the NCLR's "ALMA de Tu Mundo" award.
According to People en Español, the "Alma de Tu Mundo" award is presented by Telemundo and the National Council of La Raza (NCLR) to recognize Longoria's use of her fame and talent to help the Latino community and to create awareness on various philanthropic causes.
It will be handed out for the very first time during this year's ceremony, TVbytheNumbers reported. The award acknowledges the 38-year-old actress' engagement to endeavors to help ensure a better future for Hispanic families through education, voting and civic engagement.
The ALMA awards, which will broadcast live on Friday, September 27 at 10 p.m on MSNBC TV, is the only awards show presented in English to honor Latinos in music, film and television. It was created by the National Council of La Raza to unite entertainment with social causes.
Daddy Yankee will also be recognized for his musical career and will receive the "Poder Musical" (Musical Power) award, also to be presented for the very first time, People en Español reported. Through a statement, Telemundo said that the 36-year-old artist is an innovator in his genre and has also placed "urban music not only on the map, but on top of the music charts all over the world."
The "Poder Musical" award is reserved only for artists that with talent, courage and innovative power take over the world of music, according to TVbytheNumbers. The "Gasolina" singer has stood out for his unstoppable success in a more than a decade career.
The "Premios Tu Mundo" ceremony will feature performances by Cristian Castro, Elvis Crespo, Daddy Yankee, Tito "El Bambino", Natalia Gimenez, Aracely Arambula, Voz de Mando, Carlos Ponce, Aaron Díaz, Paola Guanche, Victor Manuelle, Banda Los Recoditos, Roberto Junior y Su Bandeño, Gabriel Coronel, and the world famous STOMP.
The second edition of the awards show will be hosted by telenovela heart throbs Gaby Espino and Aaron Díaz. Fans can vote for the finalists online to make their favorite celebrities take home an award.
The awards ceremony will be broadcast live on Thursday, August 15 at 8 p.m. from the American Airlines Arena in Miami, Florida.
