Lionsgate has announced that "The Hunger Games: Catching Fire" will premiere in London.
The studio sent out a press statement which announced that the film's world premiere will be in London on November 11. The company also announced that the film would be released in day and date format and that it would be released in 100 days later.
"The Hunger Games: Catching Fire" tells the story of Katniss Everdeen who returns home after winning the 74th Annual Hunger Games along with fellow tribute Peeta Mellark. The victory changes their lives as they are forced to leave their family and close friends, embarking on a "Victor's Tour" of the districts. Along the way, Katniss senses that a rebellion is simmering, but the Capitol is still very much in control as President Snow prepares the 75th Annual Hunger Games, The Quarter Quell - a competition that could change Panem forever.
The first "Hunger Games" film became the 13th highest grossing film of all time, making $403 million domestically. It generated $700 million worldwide. The film scored rave reviews with an 84 percent aggregate score on Rotten Tomatoes. The film also scored a Golden Globe nomination and won a Broadcast Critics award.
"Catching Fire" stars Jennifer Lawrence ("Silver Linings Playbook"), Liam Hemsworth ("Paranoia"), Josh Hutcherson ("The Kids are all Right"), Woody Harrelson ("The Messenger"), Elizabeth Banks ("W."), Stanley Tucci ("The Lovely Bones"), Donald Sutherland ("Pride and Prejudice") and Phillip Seymour Hoffman ("The Master").
The film was directed by Francis Lawrence ("Water for Elephants") and written by Simon Beaufoy ("Slumdog Millionaire") and Michael Arndt ("Toy Story 3"). Lionsgate will release the film on November 22.
