The world continues to wait on the announcement of the cast for the hotly anticipated "50 Shades of Grey" movie but at least one man knows who the favored choice for the role of Christian Grey is.

Writer Bret Easton Ellis recently spoke to Refinery29 about petitioning to get named as the franchise's director and also dropped some casting hints.

"The fervor died down because I didn't get the job," he said about his popularity on Twitter during the months that he was campaigning to land the directing gig. "And E.L. James said to me, 'Look, it was always going to be a woman. It was never going to be a man directing, and I should have had someone get to you before you went on your six-month campaign.'"

Sam Taylor-Johnson, the wife of "Kick-Ass" star Aaron Taylor-Johnson, was eventually selected as the helmer for the project.

Ellis also noted that he knew exactly who the director wanted to play the male lead in the movie but was not positive about her chances of landing him.

"I know who her number one choice for Christian Grey is, though," he said. "She is never going to get him. He has dark hair. Of course, that's what she wants...Okay, I can say this: Think of the most obvious, fitting choice. It's right in front of your face. I can't say anything."

Many figured that her husband Aaron Taylor-Johnson would be the most logical choice, but the thespian recently denied any involvement in the project.

"I am not Christian Grey," he said. "I mean, he is supposed to be the most gorgeous man on the f***ing planet. And I'm not old enough."

Other popular candidates include Matt Bomer, Henry Cavil and Ian Somerhalder.
