While there is a lot of speculation on who will play Batman in the new "Batman vs. Superman" film, Mark Strong and Bryan Cranston have emerged as the front-runners to play Lex Luthor.

The rumors for Strong emerged after a conversation with the Digital Spy. When asked about the role of Luthor, Strong stated, "All I can say is... watch this space."

Meanwhile Latino review hinted that Cranston was a strong possibility. Reporter El Mayimbe tweeted several hints about Cranston as a potential actor to play Batman. He first posted "Actor for Lex is so painfully obvious/on the nose, u wouldn't believe me even if I told you. Hell, I don't believe it myself. Take a guess?"

Eight minutes later he gave another hint that stated, " FANBOY BLIND ITEM: Which superhot actor finishing final season of hit TV show who also was in 2 films for WB is up for juicy badguy part? :)"

He continued by posting two more clues that stated, "In fact, this actor is in this studio's tentpole which comes out next summer. :)" and "FINAL CLUE FOR Y'ALL FANBOY KNUCKLEHEADS WHO CAN'T TAKE A HINT: This actor played a bad guy (embarrassed that he did) on the POWER RANGERS."

Neither Strong nor Cranston's publicists have commented on the rumors. Warner Bros. has not mentioned any casting news but should make revelations in the coming months.

Strong was last seen in "Welcome to the Punch" and "Zero Dark Thirty." Cranston starred in the Academy Award winner "Argo" and was also in "Total Recall." He will next appear in "Godzilla."

"Batman vs. Superman" will be directed by Zack Snyder and is set to star Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Laurence Fishburne, and Diane Lane. David Goyer will write the script with Charles Roven and Deborah Snyder producing. Warner Bros. will release the movie in 2015.
