Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti has assured the media that Cristiano Ronaldo will resign with Real Madrid.
"The player wants to renew his contract and the club want him to renew it too, so I don't think it's going to be a problem,'' Ancelotti said according to Madrid-based newspaper AS. "I think Cristiano and the club are relaxed about the issue. I don't know when it will happen, but I am certain that Cristiano is going to renew his contract with Madrid."
Ancelotti has been firm on this point since his arrival.
"Everyone knows that he is a superstar and a great player," Ancelotti said a few weeks ago about Ronaldo's contract status. "The most important thing for the club is that a player of his quality shows the utmost professionalism...That is good, especially for the young players who can see a world-class player working with that attitude. I am not responsible for the renewal of his contract, but it won't be a problem," he added.
There are numerous rumors that the Portuguese superstar is set to sign a contract that would pay him 17 million euros per year. However, Ronaldo would not confirm the contract status during recent talks with reporters.
"The situation is not yet sorted, so it is not the right moment to talk about this," he said of his contract. "Further on, maybe something more concrete will be known, but at the moment it is just up to me to train and work."
Real Madrid is slated to sign Gareth Bale; rumors indicate that the team could spend more than 200 million pounds on the Welshman.
