With summer slowly winding down, the onslaught of the fall's most electrifying series loom on the autumn horizon. One of the season's most highly anticipated shows, although still a month or two away, is preparing for its biggest seasons yet and promises to deliver plenty of what fans love most: witchcraft and treachery.

During an interview with Vulture, creator Ryan Murphy shared details on the upcoming witchery that's in store.

"It really is about the witches of Salem pitted against voodoo witches," Murphy told Vulture. "It's been a centuries-long feud and it's up to Jessica Lange and Angela Bassett to mend the face."

"The witches of Salem, the smart ones, got out very early and they were none of the ones who were burned," he added. "They all gravitated toward New Orleans, where they now live, and every generation has a great witch who has the most powers of them all, and that's called the Supreme. Ms. Jessica Lange is the Supreme."

While Lange assumes the role of the Supreme, Bassett will take on the role of the voodoo priestess Marie Laveau. Between voodoo and witchery, "Coven" will follow in the footsteps of its predecessors and make for yet another spectacular season of "American Horror Story."

Lange and Bassett won't be the only actors to grace the upcoming season, of course. Murphy also revealed that the younger version of Frances Conroy's character, Alexandra Breckenridge, from season 1 will also be returning.

"Very happy to announce the lovely and talented Alexandra Breckenridge will be joining AHS: Coven," Murphy posted on Twitter.

It's unclear which role she'll assume, however, according to Spoiler TV, Conroy is back in season 3 as a woman named Ruth. It's also rumored that the show is still searching for a red-haired 20-year-old version of the character. Could Breckenridge be the one?

"American Horror Story" will return to FX October 9.
