Less than two months separate fans from the upcoming season 10 premiere of ABC's hit medical drama "Grey's Anatomy." As always, the Shonda Rhimes show left fans wanting more during May's season nine finale and it looks like they'll get just that during the two-hour opener this September. Although shooting for the next season has already started, little has been revealed...until now.
TVLine is reporting that the show's lead couple, Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) and Derek (Patrick Dempsey), will have a lot to deal with now that their baby boy has arrived. "Grey's" consulting producer (and "Scandal" Emmy nominee) Dan Bucatinsky revealed, "She [Mer] had a rough birth. We're going to see them in the hospital together and juggling their roles in a major way."
Delivering McBaby, who the couple named Bailey, in a hospital with no electicity is no easy task, but Mer was able to survive it. The couple will have to learn to juggle their hectic work lives along with having two children at home.
Bucatinsky also shared some intel on the season premiere regarding the hospital's interns. "Also, we're going to watch these new interns become part of the fabric of the hospital. That's going to be part of what's fun and fresh about this season. We're going to get to know them better."
In other "Grey's" news, TVLine also reported that the new season will introduce another recurring character. According to TVLine's Michael Ausiello, the new character is named Bill and he's "a likable jazz musician in his 50s who has been 'somewhat ravaged by drug abuse.'" The character, which has not been cast yet, is slated to appear in about five episodes in upcoming season, Ausiello wrote.
"Grey's Anatomy" season 10 begins on Thursday, September 26 for a two-hour premiere starting at 9 p.m. on ABC.
