In light of Amanda Bynes' most recent erratic behavior, which resulted in her being placed in a mental hospital, her parents are seeking a temporary conservatorship to get control over their daughter's financial and personal affairs.
The 27-year-old starlet's mom and dad, Lynn and Rick, will be in court Friday morning to ask for the conservatorship, E! News confirmed.
If a judge grants her parents' request, they will be legally in charge of Bynes' estate for whatever amount of time the court sees fit. However, they must first prove that their daughter is unable to care for herself or otherwise handle her own affairs, as per California law.
Their decision comes after Bynes was detained Monday night on a 72-hour psychiatric hold after allegedly lighting a fire in the driveway of a home near her parents' house in Southern California. After starting the makeshift fire, video footage shows that the former child star walked into a California liquor store shortly thereafter where she tried to rinse her pet pooch, which was drenched in gasoline, in a back-office sink.
"She was trying to wash the dog. She didn't ask permission to go in the back on her own," Southwest Market & Deli employee Tony Darghali told the New York Daily News.
"When [the clerk on duty] went back there to see what she was doing, he could smell gasoline. She seemed freaked out and just kind of walked out. I don't think there was a whole lot of communication," he added. "It looks like the poor girl needs some help."
Ventura County Sheriff's deputies "determined that she met the criteria of a 5150 [hold]," because she had been deemed as a potential danger to herself or others.
According to authorities, no injuries were reported and Bynes was not arrested, although bystanders reported seeing the actress' pants on fire. Another witness said Bynes was in a "frantic and discombobulated" state.
During her psychiatric treatment, Radar Online reports that the "Hairspray" star has been demanding Adderall to fuel her addiction. Bynes was prescribed to take Adderall to treat her Attention Deficit Disorder, however, sources say she's been abusing it to lose weight.
The star "has been demanding that doctors give her Adderall, which they are refusing to do," said an insider. Others say that her addiction has increased her paranoia.
