It looks like "Once Upon a Time" has gotten a Robin Hood facelift. TVLine has confirmed that the ABC fantasy drama recast the role of Robin Hood for the upcoming third season.
British actor Sean Maguire has nabbed the role of the Prince of Thieves for a recurring arc, TVLine reported. The role was previously portrayed by "Merlin" actor Tom Ellis in the season 2 episode called "Lacey."
Series co-creator and executive producer Adam Horowitz previously told the entertainment site, "Although we love Tom Ellis, unfortunately he wasn't available. We remain huge fans of his, but because we have an arc planned for the character, we had to move forward."
The actor later confirmed his role on the show with a series of Tweets to his fans. "I am very excited to be joining the cast of 'Once upon a time' playing the role of Robin Hood. I promise fans of the show to give it 100%."
He later tweeted, "Thank you to everyone the for such a warm welcome to the show. Playing Robin hood is a childhood dream come true. #OnceUponaTime."
In other "Once" news, Horowitz told TV Guide that fans will get an explanation regarding the Home Office. "As we stated in the finale, Greg and Tamara don't know that they're working for Peter Pan. So the Home Office is related to Pan, but that'll be cleared up pretty quickly."
TV Guide also reported that fans shouldn't be deceived about the Little Mermaid appearing in Storybrooke during the Comic-Con teaser. Despite showing up in the sleepy New England town and stealing Grumpy's fork, Ariel will actually be in Neverland.
"Once Upon a Time" season 3 premieres on Sunday, September 29 at 8 p.m. on ABC.
