Comic-Con has passed. All the upcoming news and jaw dropping secrets surrounding television and film have been revealed. As previous rumors suggested, E. L. James was to make her grand announcement as to who would play Anastasia Steele and Christian Grey in the "50 Shades of Grey" movie during the weekend's festivities, but alas, they were nothing more than rumors. James kept her mouth shut. She took the time to talk about her decision to bring director Sam Taylor-Johnson onboard, admitting that it wasn't her decision alone, although she did think, "There's a woman I can go and get drunk with," but avoided most inquiries regarding the lead roles. Fans well versed in the "50 Shades" casting arena, however, are unsurprised.
They're numb to it all. At this point, when the actors are officially announced, it will take days to actually sink in. Many fans will return to their computers the next morning to check for new mock trailers or fan polls. The thought of a confirmed cast is so far gone that it seems unattainable. The hours, days and weeks pass by with no official word from James or the studio. That's simply how the "50 Shades" contention works. It's fueled by fan speculation. Nothing more. So in celebration of another confirmationless week, here's who's shaking things up on the Anastasia front.
MTV's La La Anthony is now the newest arrival to the "50 Shades" arena. This time around, however, it wasn't just unwarranted rumors that sparked the flame. Anthony actually expressed interest and openly talked about the role, something that other contenders such as Alexis Bledel and Emilia Clarke have refrained from doing.
"The book spread like wildfire everywhere," Anthony said. "It went from one person knowing about it to every person you ran into talking about it... so if the opportunity came, I'd do it." Anthony realizes the potential that the hefty role carries. If done right, it could propel the prospective actress's career. It's still anyone's game Anthony knows that. Expressing interest is the first step, the next is getting James' attention and praying for a hasty decision.
