A new preview for "Pokémon X and Y's" gameplay was released during the television show "Pokémon Smash."

The Japanese sideshow, which features the latest in breaking news on the franchise, presented new visuals, such as a wild Pokémon encounter. The first wild Pokémon encounter featured a Fletchling battling the gamer's Froakie. The new water starter Pokémon is seen using moves such as Bubblebeam and features the player successfully capture Fletching.

The next new gameplay feature was fishing. The player managed to snag an Octillery and battle him against his Honedge. As seen with the Fletchling, Octillery is also captured via the Poké Ball.

The third gameplay footage saw the player find an item before encountering a wild Inkay. Using a Great Ball, the wild Inkay was captured.

The gameplay video ended with a presentation to the next anime season based on "Pokémon X and Y." As Latinos Post reported, the preview for the next anime season saw Ash Ketchum arrive to the Kalos region with his Pikachu. Based on the short preview, he is seen without current traveling friends Cilan and Iris. The sixth-generation starter Pokémon are also seen in what may be Prof. Augustine Sycamore's laboratory.

The gameplay footage comes after two additional gym leaders were confirmed last week. As Latinos Post reported, Clemson and Grant will accompany Viola as gym leaders for Kalos. Although it was not specified as to what types the two males specialized in, it's been confirmed Grant "excels" in biking racing and mountain climbing while Clemson enjoys creating inventions.

"Pokémon X and Y" is set for a worldwide release on Oct. 12, exclusively for the Nintendo 3DS.
