The first day of this year's San Diego Comic Con certainly was very exciting for gamers, as many games were announced at the event, including some new entries to cult classic series, as well as new information being revealed about some of the hot new games to come out this year.
Latinos Post looks at some of the video game highlights from Day One of Comic Con:
Capcom made a big splash when they announced that they were developing a new Strider game for a release in early 2014. The game will be available on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, along with the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Younger gamers may not remember Strider, which first appeared as an arcade game in 1989, but old-school gamers were cheering the news when it first broke out. The game promises to blend classic side-scrolling action with 3D environments in what may become a sleeper hit for the next-gen systems.
Namco Bandai has also brought back one of their series with the announcement of Ace Combat Infinity for the PlayStation 3. Not much is know about the game, but there is some speculation that the game could be a free to play offering from Namco similar to the way they put out a free Tekken in Revolution. Either way, fans of the air combat simulator will be thrilled to take to the skies once again.
Halfbrick Studios may not be as big as Capcom or Namco Bandai, but they are responsible for the massively popular Fruit Ninja and Jetpack Joyride games. At Comic Con they revealed their next game, Colossatron: Massive World Threat. This game requires players to snake around a city destroying everything they can while collecting new powerups along the way. The game appears to be a satire/homage to disaster and Godzilla movies, with punny character names and over-the-top battles.
Finally, as stated in our previous coverage, Batman: Arkham Origins had a special panel during Comic Con, in which a new villain made her first appearance. Copperhead, the fairly obscure assassin, will make her first appearance in this prequel to the series as one of the eight assassins trying to kill Batman and claim the bounty Black Mask has put on the Caped Crusader.
