The Pokémon Company International has confirmed the types and special abilities for the mascot Pokémon for "X and Y."
Representing "Pokémon X," Xerneas has been confirmed to have the newest brand-type of the franchise, Fairy. Xerneas also has the new move, Geomancy, which features a rainbow-colored light that erupts from Earth. It's not exactly certain if Geomancy is an attack or defensive move.

In terms of ability, Xerneas has Fairy Aura. With the special ability, Xerneas is able to strengthen Fairy-type moves during Pokémon battles.
The mascot for "Pokémon Y" is Yveltal. The new legendary Pokémon has been confirmed to be a dual Dark-and-Flying type. Yveltal also has a new move known as Oblivion Wing, which sees Yveltal flying high into the sky only to release a red-scorching beam onto the opponent.
As for Yveltal's special ability, the character features a counterpoint to Xerneas' Fairy Aura, known as Dark Aura, which raises the power of Dark-type moves during Pokémon battles. Dark Aura is apparently effective in both Double and Triple Battles.
"So, when Yveltal is in battle, it's smart for players to fill their team with Pokémon that can use Dark-type moves," recommended The Pokémon Company International in a statement.
The latest information on the sixth-generation's newest legendary Pokémon comes as two additional gym leaders were confirmed. As Latinos Post reported, Clemont and Grant are the newest gym leaders for "Pokémon X and Y" and join Viola, the Bug-type Gym Leader.
The new criminal organization for Kalos region was also revealed to be Team Flare. Information on the new villainous team is scarce, but the "fashionable" group is known to wear bright red attire and were seen using a Houndour in a new Pokémon trailer (see below), likely signifying their specialty will be Fire-type Pokémon.
The new professor for Kalos was also confirmed to be Prof. Augustine Sycamore. As seen with past professors in the franchise, Prof. Sycamore will give the player one of the three starter Pokémon - Chespin, Fennekin, or Froakie.
"Pokémon X and Y" will launch worldwide on Oct. 12, exclusively for the Nintendo 3DS.
