One of the rumored tablets is expected to replace the current 7-inch Kindle Fire, which is Amazon's entry-level tablet priced at $159. The tablet is expected to maintain the same 7-inch size but may feature a new panel with 1,280x800 pixels, as seen with the Kindle Fire HD.
A new version of the Kindle Fire HD was also speculated. Whilst keeping the same display size, the tablet is expected to have an improved panel with 1,920x1,200 pixels.
The third rumored tablet is for the 8.9-inch Kindle Fire HD. Sources claimed the upcoming 8.9-inch tablet will see its pixel resolution jump to 2,560x1,600. If the pixel resolution for the upcoming 8.9-inch Kindle Fire HD is proven accurate, it surpasses the 9.7-inch Apple iPad, which has 2,048x1,536 pixels.
In regards to possible design changes, Zach Epstein of BGR reported, "Whereas the current Kindle Fire HD series features a back that slopes smoothly out toward the edges...our sources say the new models feature a more angular design with a flat slope out to the edges instead of a curved slope, and corners that aren't as rounded. One source described the new look as 'chiseled.'"
A request for a comment by Amazon was made but a company spokesman said they do not comment on rumors or speculation.
