Fans of the hit series "Castle" are eagerly waiting on the edges of their seats to see what Stana Katic decides in the wake of the ultimatum presented to her during the season 5 finale. She has two options: stay in New York City and continue working as a detective or make her way to Washington D.C. and make more money working on a special task force in the U.S. Attorney General's office. The catch? She'd have to leave Rick's marriage proposal behind.
And while many fans are concerned with Beckett's future, new characters will also be making a major splash and shaking things up in the department. According to TV Line, "House" star Lisa Edelstein will be joining the "Castle" season 6 cast for a multiple episode arc. She will play Rachel McCrod, a tough and highly-skilled Federal Investigator whose presence will play a key part in Beckett's decision to stay or go.
It's unclear how she'll persuade Beckett, but the fact that she's a Federal Investigator hints that she'll be pushing her to join the FBI team in D.C. According to Katic, that's what her character is already considering.
"If she drops the FBI gig, she's a loser," Katic said. "This is a modern woman's story, and I don't want to send the message that a woman has to choose love over a career. New York and D.C. are not that far apart, and Rick's a millionaire. They can travel. I think it would really be a big disservice to the character to create a job opportunity like this and let it peter out."
More news from TV Line supports the theory. "The show is casting a handful of new detectives who I'm guessing will be Beckett's new D.C.-based colleagues in the U.S. Attorney General's office. One of them - a character named Matt, who's intelligent and driven - will recur."
The pieces are all falling into place, but fans will have to wait until the season 6 premiere to find out for sure.
"Castle" will return to ABC in the fall.
