"The Vampire Diaries" is known for its drama. With emotional high school teenagers all hopped up on blood, things are rarely going to end well. Trust me, I know from experience. Although it's no more than a fictitious television series, the drama trickles from the set and into the real lives of the actors.

Star Zach Roerig, 28, who plays Matt Donovan on the show, is currently caught up in his own serious issues. Although he has the summer off from the set of "The Vampire Diaries," he can't escape the drama, or the headlines. Roerig is seeking sole custody of his 2-year-old daughter as the girl's mother is serving time in federal prison, according to TV Guide.

Previously, Roerig never disclosed his fatherhood, but now that everything has hit the fan, it's impossible to keep it secret. According to court documents given to TMZ, he had a daughter with a woman named Alanna Turner in 2011. As part of his request for custody, he claims that Turner has been arrested at least three times and recently pled guilty to "various crimes" in federal court.

Details surrounding the situation are still unclear. It's unknown for what crimes Turner is serving time in federal prison as well as what sort of relationship she had with Roerig. The "Vampire Diaries" actor has kept his love interests hush in the past, as he dated costar Candice Accola for some time unbeknownst to their adoring fans. The two split recently split, however, according to US Weekly.

Unfortunately for Roerig, it's back to the set of "The Vampire Diaries" for another full dose of drama. Perhaps it will keep his mind of things, or perhaps it will make it all worse.
