The brand new season of Fox's popular crime-solving drama "Bones" is not scheduled to return for another couple of months, but fans are dying to find out what lies in store for their favorite FBI agent and forensic anthropologist next season. When fans left the couple in the season eight premiere, it was clear that serial killer Pelant (guest star Andrew Leeds) was not going to let Booth (David Boreanaz) and Brennan (Emily Deschanel) have their fairy tale wedding.
After Brennan proposed to Booth, Booth was forced to cut their engagement short when Pelant sent him a threatening call. Booth ends his engagement with Brennan, leaving the normally anti-marriage anthropologist heartbroken.
New details from TV Guide's William Keck reveal that there might still be hope for Booth and Brennan's nuptials. Keck writes, "But some aid will soon be on the way for the would-be couple. A mysterious ex-priest from Booth's past resurfaces-and not only does he help tie up the little problem of Pelant, but he also assists Booth and Brennan in getting to the next step in their relationship."
Could the couple finally be hearing wedding bells? We're sure their daughter Christine would make an adorable flower girl and Booth's son Parker would be the perfect ring bearer.
The end of Pelant will also come as welcome progress in the lives of the Jeffersonian staff and FBI. EP Stephen Nathan promised fans back in April that Pelant will absolutely be caught, adding, "Pelant will not live forever." Fans should also expect a slight time jump in the season premiere that will show the strain that Booth and Brennan have endured since the engagement was broken off.
"Bones" season nine will premiere on Monday, September 16 at 8 p.m. on Fox. On November 8, the show will move to its new Friday 8 p.m. time slot.
