Fans of the hit series "Castle" are eagerly waiting on the edges of their seats to see what Stana Katic decides in the wake of the ultimatum presented to her during the season 5 finale. She has two options: stay in New York City and continue working as a detective or make her way to Washington D.C. and make more money working for the FBI. The catch? She'd have to leave a marriage proposal behind.
In a recent interview with TV Guide, Katic, who plays Kate Beckett on the show, opened up about the major decision that will inevitably change the course of her character's life.
"If she drops the FBI gig, she's a loser," Katic said. "This is a modern woman's story, and I don't want to send the message that a woman has to choose love over a career. New York and D.C. are not that far apart, and Rick's a millionaire. They can travel. I think it would really be a big disservice to the character to create a job opportunity like this and let it peter out."
Well, there you have it. It's clear that Beckett will be taking the job in D.C., and recent casting information supports it. There are new detectives coming to the show, which will help beef up the "Castle" cast and hints that there will be positions opening up in the department in the wake of her potential absence.
According to Spoiler TV, one no-nonsense female detective, named Rachel McCord, will be making her way to the force. Could she be Beckett's replacement? We'll just have to wait and see.
"Castle" will return to ABC in the fall.
