Anyone who owns a smartphone knows one of the most annoying things that can happen is the battery runs out just when you really need it. Samsung Galaxy S4 owners now have the option of fighting that dreaded black out thanks to Mugen Power.

Mugen Power announced a 5,500mAh battery for the Samsung Galaxy S4 that the company claims will "have better performance (higher capacity) and reliability (longevity & safety) than other brands." For those counting, the Galaxy S4's stock battery is 2,600mAh, meaning the Mugen Power extended battery should increase the handset's longevity by 2.12. Like all extended batteries, this one will be bigger than the stock one.

The Mugen Power battery isn't available just yet, although interested parties can go to the Mugen Power website to pre-order one. The battery will ship out July 22. Mugen is selling the 5,500 mAh battery for $89.50.

Here are some general tips for maximizing the battery life on your Galaxy S4:

1) Adjust your screen's brightness so the display isn't eating up too much juice

2) Use Wi-Fi as much as possible since Wi-Fi isn't as stressful on the phone as cell signals

3) Use Power Saving mode. This one's pretty obvious.

4) Turn off those smart gestures unless you really use them, because they're doing is eating up resources from peripherals like the front-facing camera. Same goes for voice controls and the microphone.
