General Zod, the archenemy of Superman through several films, has now been released by NetherRealm Studios for Injustice: Gods Among Us, as the last character of the game's season pass DLC package. The fourth DLC character to be added to the game (after Lobo, Batgirl, and Scorpion from Mortal Kombat), the kryptonian fiend is now available for players to download and start wreaking havoc amongst the rest of the DC Comics characters in the game.
Zod, who was first introduced in the original Superman films and appears in the recent Man of Steel movie, is one of the arch-rivals of Superman, which is pretty ironic considering that in the story of Injustice: Gods Among Us, Superman is a villain who has taken over the world. Zod has similar powers to Superman, including heat vision and flight. In a teaser video for the Zod DLC character, he is seen putting some of those powers in action, including sending his opponent into space and through the Moon.
NetherRealm has completed the promised content of the season pass, of which Zod was the last piece. However, the studio's head, Ed Boon, has promised that more DLC characters for the game will be released, though no timetable for any new characters has been revealed. It will be interesting to see if the promised new content would feature a character such as Martian Manhunter, which fans have been asking for since the game was launched, or if NetherRealm and Warner Bros. have their own idea of who should be introduced into the brawler.
Injustice: Gods Among Us is available for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, PC, Wii U, and iOS. The game has been a smash hit for NetherRealm, who also worked on the successful Mortal Kombat reboot, released in 2011. Look out for more DLC character news soon, as NetherRealm has delivered content to the game quite frequently.
