William Levy has denied having an affair with his "La Tempestad" co-star Ximena Navarrete.

Levy told "El Gordo y La Flaca" that he and Navarrete were working on a professional basis and were serious actors. He stated, "We are acting as lovers and want the audience to believe our work. Therefore if people don't believe our work then we are doing a bad job. "

Levy's girlfriend Elizabeth Gutierrez also responded to the rumors on Twitter and stated, "I love the life we live. People will continue to speak but its ok because we chose this lifestyle.  In any case a relationship is only made up of two people."

The rumors over Navarrete and Levy's relationship began last week when a Mexican magazine published a number of pictures in which the two actors were seen together. Additionally, Navarrete broke up with her boyfriend and many started to speculate that it was because of her relationship with Levy.

Levy and Navarrete have made headlines throughout the year for their participation in "La Tempestad." The actors were criticized for taking 16 hours to complete a kissing scene and for their lack of chemistry.  Levy's Cuban accent was also blasted by the production team for being incomprehensible while Navarrete's lack of experience was criticized. They were later asked to take acting classes but even then their acting received negative reviews when the series premiered in Mexico. The actors later defended their work and stated that they were pushing themselves to the best of their abilities and learning from each experience.

"La Tempestad" is produced by Salavdor Mejia and is said to the most expensive soap opera ever produced in Mexico. The series also stars, Ivan Sanchez, Laura Carmine, Arturo Peniche, Marianna Seoane Jessica Coch, Diana Bracho, Cesar Evora, Alfonso Herrera and Luis Manuel Avila. "La Tempestad" airs in the US in July on Univision.
