Internet Explorer continues to triumph in the desktop browser market share, according to NetShareMarket.

According to June figures by NetMarketShare, Microsoft's Internet Explorer, as a unit, accounted for 56.15 percent of the market share. The June figure is a small increase of 0.17 from May's 55.98 percent.

With 37 percent behind Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox finished second. Mozilla Firefox's June market share percent was 19.15 percent, a gain of 1.48 from May.

Google's Chrome browser was not far behind Firefox. While finishing in third place, Chrome garnered 17.17 percent, comfortably ahead of Apple's Safari's fourth place position. The Apple desktop browser amassed 5.55 percent, a slight bump up from May's 5.46 percent.

In regards to respective versions of the online browsers, Internet Explorer 8.0 finished on top with 22.67 percent. Chrome dethroned Internet Explorer 10 with 13.76 percent to 13.52 percent. Firefox version 21 was not far behind Internet Explorer 10 as it placed fourth with 12.47 percent.
