The wait for the final premiere of "Dexter" is finally over, with fans one step closer to finding out what will happen to their favorite serial killer. Hype over the final season of the Showtime drama has been at an all-time high, with the network dropping promos, cast interviews, photos and other sneak peaks before the Sunday premiere.
Now the drama's cast is sharing some of their hopes for the final season. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, executive producer Sara Colleton said, "This year is going to be a no-holds-barred year."
Many fans are wondering what will happen with the brother-sister duo, with some thinking that one will get the axe before the series' end. "Anything is possible, and that's always been true in the storytelling," Michael C. Hall (Dexter) told THR. Meanwhile actress Jennifer Carpenter (Deb) voiced her hope that her character would die by the finale.
"I think she should be cremated; she should die and I only say that for my own selfish reasons because I feel like it would be really hard to live my life imagining that something was left undone with her. That's the swiftest way to put it to bed," Carpenter said.
The two have been on rocky terms since Deb was forced to kill LaGuerta (Lauren Vélez) in the season seven finale in order to protect Dexter. However, showrunner Scott Buck promised, "Eventually they do find their way back to each other."
In the upcoming episode, entitled "Every Silver Lining," Dexter works closely Dr. Vogel (Charlotte Rampling), who viewers learned was behind the code Dexter lives by. A promo for the episode shows Vogel "calling in a favor" from Dexter and her questioning him about his relationship with Deb. Dexter is adamant about sharing his relationship with his sister with Vogel, but she insists that it isn't just affecting him, but her as well.
"Dexter" airs on Sunday nights at 9 p.m. EST on SHOWTIME.
