It was reported just a few days ago that the long awaited DLC for Bioshock Infinite was still on track and in development from Irrational Games, and now it appears that fans of the game have a more concrete answer for when they can expect the DLC to become available.
IGN is reporting that Irrational Games has confirmed the first DLC, part of the game's season pass, will be out in late July. This will be over four months after the game was launched in March, quite a sizeable gap between a game's release and when the first DLC for the game is launched, especially considering the game has a season pass for DLC set up for dedicated players.
Earlier Ken Levine, the head of Irrational Games, assured fans through Twitter that the DLC for the game was on its way, even though the company has remained silent since the game's launch:
"DLC Update: We are working on it- have been since the game shipped. Things are going well, but plz understand: game development takes time."
The only DLC released thus far for the game was a re-release of the game's special edition content to those who did not preorder that special bundle. However, these in-game bonuses were not covered by the game's season pass, so gamers had to pay $5 for the content if they wanted it.
Bioshock Infinite is available on the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC. The award winning game is part of a huge Xbox Live sale along with several other major titles that are available for the console. Bioshock Infinite has been named an early contender for game of the year, and fans and critics have pointed to the game's story and writing as the strongest in recent memory.
