The Mega Millions jackpot just keeps on rising as June 28's pot prize is now set at $61 million. With draws taking place every Tuesday and Friday, the prize just keeps on growing to multimillions.

Anyone who will win the $61M pot in tonight's draw, he or she will be given the chance to choose from an estimated 26 annual payments totalling $61 million or $42.7 million in a lump-sum of cash, the Examiner reports.

"Jackpot prizes are paid in 30 annual payments," the California Lottery Commission explained. "However, after you win the jackpot and your prize is validated by the Lottery, you will have 60 days to choose the cash value of the prize instead of 30 annual payments."

For those looking to join the lottery, acceptance of draw entries end at 7:45 p.m. of the draw day. Tickets are sold at $1 each.

In last June 25's draw, no one was able to bag the $52 million pot prize. But according to the Mega Millions website, five people won $250,000 and 24 won $10,000 each. Notably, more than 225,000 entries won the least prize of $2.

One winner from California was reported to have matched five out of six Mega Million draw numbers, for the $250,000 prize. The Examiner reports the California winner received $155,265.

The report also noted that if no one wins the pot tonight, the prize for July 2's draw could reach as much as $75 million. The biggest posted Mega Million jackpot prize was at $656 million, won by three people in March 30, 2012. According to the Mega Millions site, there is 1 in 175,711,536 chance of hitting all six winning numbers for the jackpot.
